Robotics is a branch of engineering which is concerned with the conception, design, construction and operation of robots. It is an interdisciplinary field overlapping with artificial intelligence, electronics, mechatronics, computer science nanotechnology and bioengineering. Robots are designed to replicate human action. Today, robots are being used for domestic, military and commercial purposes. Much of the research in robotics is directed at the design and manufacture of new types of robots. A new innovation in robot design is evolutionary robots.
