The mechanism through which a living organism replaces damaged or destroyed tissue is termed as wound healing. The two layers of the skin, the epidermis and the dermis, act as protection against the outside environment. When this barrier is broken, it triggers a series of biochemical reactions which can be broadly divided into four major phases, namely, blood clotting, inflammation, growth of tissue and tissue remodeling. There are numerous reasons due to which this process could be hampered. A few of them are diseases such as arterial or venous disease, and diabetes. Caring for wounds can assist increasing the rate of recovery by providing protection against reinjury or reinfection. This book includes some of the vital pieces of work being conducted across the world, on various topics related to wound healing. It will also provide interesting topics for research which interested readers can take up. This book will serve as a reference to a broad spectrum of readers.
