The method used to grow plants without the use of soil is known as hydroponics. Instead of using soil, it uses mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent. This field is a branch of hydroculture. The field is emerging rapidly and is known to use less amount of water to grow plants. Cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and lettuces are some of the plants that are grown using the various techniques of this field. Some of the techniques used in hydroponics are deep water, passive sub-irrigation, fogponics, continuous flow solution, static solution, aeroponics and ebb and flow sub-irrigation. Different mediums are suited for the use of different techniques. Hydroponics is an upcoming field of science that has undergone rapid development over the past few decades. Different approaches, evaluations, methodologies and studies related to this field have been included herein. In this book, constant effort has been made to make the understanding of the difficult concepts of this discipline as easy and informative as possible, for the readers.
